Reset Your Life
Text: Isaiah 43:18-19
Why Reset?:
“Reset happens when you let go of the old life and reconnect with the God who gives new life.”
Reset means to set again or anew, such as returning something to its original place or position. This describes what God did for us in Christ (2 Cor. 5:18-19).
Humanity was separated from God when sin entered the world through Adam’s disobedience (Gen. 2:17; 3:6, 19; 1 Cor. 15:21-22).
We were never meant to live apart from God (Gen. 2:7).
Many individuals have opted to live their lives separated from Christ (John 3:18-20).
Living without Christ results in emptiness, hopelessness, and a life lacking purpose or meaning.
New Life:
To resolve our dilemma and reset our lives, a new covenant was established between God and His people (Jer. 31:31-34).
Jeremiah’s prophecy was fulfilled in Christ (Heb. 8:8-12; 10:16-17).
Jesus was the mediator of the New Covenant (Heb. 8:6, 9:15, 12:24).
The Old Covenant could only remind people of their sins, but the New Covenant offers grace, deliverance, and forgiveness of sins. This was made possible by the sacrifice of Christ (Eph. 1:7).
The New Covenant established a means for us to cultivate a renewed relationship with God and, through the Holy Spirit, achieve an inward transformation that enables obedience to the Lord.
God sent Jesus to Earth to pay the penalty for our sins (John 3:14-17).
Jesus’s act of sacrificial, unconditional love paved the way for new life through the new birth (John 3:1-5).
Being born again is the first step toward resetting your life (Mark 1:14-15).
Following the decision to be born again are two important steps.
Water baptism (Acts 2:41; 8:36-38).
Baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).
Living in communion with Christ is crucial for transforming our lives (John 15:4-5).
How can we live in union with Christ?
Abide in His word (John 8:31).
Pray regularly (1 Thess. 5:17).
Surrender to God’s will (Matt. 16:24; Mark 14:36).
Living in union with Christ is an intentional decision to never try to live independently of Him.
We were created to walk with God (John 17:3).
Our existence, life, purpose, and identity are rooted in God (Acts 17:28).
Call to Action:
This week, ask God to show you one thing you need to release and one step of obedience you need to take, then act on them immediately—don’t delay your reset.
